The Vernon Pickleball Association (VPA) will be participating in a Province-wide fun charity event supporting the Pacific Assistance Dogs Society (PADS) on April 20th. Pickleball BC developed the idea in conjunction with PADS and the VPA is just one of 25 pickleball clubs across BC holding a fundraising event.
The VPA’s event is taking place 4:30 – 8:30 pm, April 20th at the Okanagan Wealth Advisors Pickleball Complex with competition geared towards newer and recreational players. Many local businesses and individuals have stepped up and donated money or products for the silent auction with all funds raised going to PADS.
VPA’s Barb Byrne, organizer of the event says, “I'm excited to welcome everybody out to participate or cheer on the players at our Paddles for PADS event. I look forward to meeting a few of these amazing dogs and their trainers, and hope to hit our fundraising goal of raising $3,000.”
“PADS is delighted to have the Vernon Pickleball Association take part in the Paddles for PADS Charity Pickleball Tournament’ says Tara Doherty, PADS Director of Communications. ‘Their support raises much needed funds and awareness about PADS and our life-changing assistance dogs.”
Spectators are welcome to attend to cheer on their favourite player and will have the opportunity to meet the PADS volunteers with their canine companions.
